If you've ever had to write a speech, make flash cards for revision or have made a Hipster PDA in the past, you'll probably have used record cards at some point. Also known as index cards, note cards or system cards, these handy little slips of thin card have a multitude of uses that you might not normally consider:
- Why not use index cards to make a daily to do list?
- Take bullet point notes in a meeting - using a notebook can lead to writing too much down - record simple points and actions rather than an entire meeting!
- Create the aforementioned Hipster PDA.
- Use instead of post-its - sure, post-its have the gummed back edge but a pin-board of index cards is easier to reposition several times and they won't then fall down if it gets too cold!
- Use as concise recipe cards - ingredients on one side, then instructions on the other.
- Shopping lists - keep one handy around the house and jot down items when you need them, then take the card shopping and cross off items as you go.
- Use them as a revision aid - write down important subject matter on one side and related and relevant matter on the other - test yourself and see if you can remember the relevant matter after reading one of the sides.
