I bought this pen to get a taste of gold nibs. Being on the low end price-wise in this category, I was attracted to this pen. The build quality is excellent, and the rhodium trim and plating has remained gorgeous after one year of use. It can produce pencil-thin lines when not applying pressure, and lines about 3/16" when flexing. When flexing, it does not feel like it will damage the nib at all--it's very pliable. The clip is solid and it securely clamps onto my pocket. The cap screws on and posts securely. I have large hands, so I usually write with it posted, but for most people, it is probably long enough to write with it unposted. It feels substantial, but not heavy. I can write with it for hours without being fatigued. The flow is not too dry, not too wet. When flexing, I have experienced railroading. However, this effect varies depending on the ink I use; also, it may be due to the fact that I have not cleaned the feed. I am not a calligraphist, so it doesn't affect my daily writing. The feed keeps up with my natural writing just fine, and it is a treat to use. It is a very smooth writer, and great for fine/small writing.Overall, I feel that the 912 is a great introduction to gold nib/flexible pens, and I personally do not feel the need to purchase a more expensive gold nib pen. Those who desire fat lines should look elsewhere, but this is a fine nib, after all.
